Getting the Candle Night Message Across to the World--Fuji Xerox Co.

A company is a place not just for working but also for socializing as well as making a contribution to society.

On this year's summer solstice, many people enjoyed Candle Night in various ways across Japan. Some people spent quiet time with their families and friends. Some joined events sponsored by non-governmental organizations or even by companies. This article introduces one such well-known company that organized a series of Candle Night events

Fuji Xerox Co., a Tokyo-based leading photocopier and facsimile machine company, supports the idea of Candle Night. This year, the company encouraged its overseas affiliates to organize Candle Night events from June 22 - 24. Responding to this call, five affiliated companies held events: PT Astra Graphia Tbk in Indonesia (322 participants in 15 places); Fuji Xerox Limited of Hong Kong (the number of participants is unknown); IndoChina Operations in Vietnam (the number of participants is unknown); Fuji Xerox of Shanghai Limited in China (1941 participants from 782 families for three days); and Fuji Xerox Taiwan Corporation (the number
of participants is unknown).

During this period, these affiliate companies organized their own Candle Night events, such as photography contests, poster displays at their factories, a sign-up corner for participants, and others.

According to the participants, they enjoyed Candle Night, spending an enjoyable time with families at home in the candlelight. The gentle light of candles surely warmed their hearts.

Yasuaki Miyamoto of the Corporate Social Responsibility Department said, "This was the first attempt for us to organize Candle Night events. I was not sure how many people would join. So I am very satisfied that many employees participated and enjoyed the Candle Night much more than expected. We will organize various enjoyable events in the future so we can promote Candle Night both inside and outside Japan."

There are some many ways to enjoy Candle Night. Why don't you organize Candle Night events at your office next time?
